10 Must-do Hikes near Talona Ridge (East Ellijay, Georgia)

Here's a list of 10 hikes (some waterfall hikes) in close proximity to the resort. This list shows a variety of hiking difficulty, see links for more trail details.



1. Fall Branch Falls on the Benton MacKaye Trail (near Blue Ridge)

- 1.2 miles round trip

- An easy to moderate hike.


2. Bear Creek Trail (Western Ellijay)

- 1.9-5.5 miles round trip

- An easy to moderate hike, depending on the length of the trail you choose to hike.


3. Carters Lake Tumbling Waters Trail (Ellijay)

- 1 mile round trip

- An easy to moderate hike.

4. Emery Creek Falls (Ellijay)

- 6.2 miles round trip

- A more difficult hike with crossing creeks and steeper inclines.


5. Springer Mountain: Hike on the Appalachian Trail (Ellijay)

- 1.9 miles round trip

- A more difficult hike with a rocky ascent.

6. Amicalola Falls Trail (Ellijay)

- 2.1 miles round trip

- A more difficult hike with lots of stairs.

- There are Alternative paths available to avoid stairs.

7. Fort Mountain Lake Trail (Blue Ridge/Ellijay)

- 1.2 miles round trip

- An easy to moderate hike.

8. Fort Mountain State Park Summit Trail (Blue Ridge/Ellijay)

- 1.5 miles round trip

- A relatively moderate hike with some steeper parts.

9. Appalachian Trail: Three Forks to Springer Mountain (Blue Ridge/Ellijay)

- 8.6 miles round trip

- A more difficult hike due to length of the trail.

10. Carters Lake Oak Ridge Nature Trail (Ellijay)

- 1.6 miles round trip

- A relatively moderate hike.
