Yes... Georgia has mountains!

Updated: May 17, 2022

I remember when I first moved my family to Georgia, I was pleasantly surprised at the stunning beauty of the south Appalachian landscape - or Piedmont region.

These mountains offer an incredible sense of adventure, and many... many things to do!

For starters, I'm a fan of going and hitting a mountain bike trail now and then. Don't get me wrong, I'm no expert, and I certainly don't have the best equipment, but here in North Georgia that doesn't seem to matter. In fact, it's so special that it has quickly become a capital place to bring your bike and hit the rugged trails.

Jeep trails can be found, and our neighboring city of Jasper is home to the annual Sheriff's Jeep Fest, 3-day event packed full of Jeep® obstacles, trails, mud, concerts, rides, food and more.

Lakes! There are so many breath-taking spots to get out on a small craft - like a kayak or a paddle board, canoe or even an inflatable.

Waterfalls! Did you know that Georgia has over 700 documented waterfalls?? Check this site out: www.gawaterfalls.com/ — most of those waterfalls are in the north, and a large proportion of them being within an hours' drive of Talona Ridge RV Resort.

History and culture abound in this region, including the world renowned Appalachian Trail, the globe's longest recognized 'hikers only' trail stretching from Maine to Georgia. Read more about one of the staff picks here or about through-hiking here.
